Hayley De González, MFA, is an Associate Professor of Art. She teaches Ceramics and Graphic Design at North Greenville University. In addition to teaching, she serves as the Chair of the Art Department She is also the Art Adviser to The Mountain Laurel, NGU’s student-lead publication featuring literature and art. She received her BA in Studio Art at Francis Marion University and earned her MFA at the University of South Carolina in Ceramics. She has previously taught at USC and Anderson University, and has exhibited work at various universities, art museums, and national exhibitions. She is primarily a potter, but often creates works in other media as well.
Her current focus is creating textured pottery that is adorned with scallop patterns, seashells, sea life, and dotted decoration. She utilizes glazes that flow into each other, recalling the ever-changing beachscape. These textured mugs integrate the beauty of the sea into daily life, as these motifs are incorporated into daily-use, utilitarian objects.
